It is best to be as open with them as possible. Depending on the situation, you may choose to just let them know some things have been on your mind and ask if there might be a chance they could help you find someone to talk with. You can let them know that you've been thinking about this for some time and it would really help you get through what is going on in your life right now. Although some parents might feel hurt or confused that you are not coming to them with your troubles, most parents will do what they can to help you. Asking for their help in finding someone, or showing them listings of people that you have already found online, etc... might allow them to feel helpful to you, even if they are not able to help with what is going on.
