First off you will need to identify the type of cockroach you have. You can go to Google and search images to see what kind you have. Get to know the characteristics of the bug, find out what they are eating and stop the free loaders. You will need a flash light and when night falls you should do a good inspection on the interior of the structure. Get on your hands and knees and look in every corner and every open areas (such as where the cabinets meet the wall) if you see them use caulk to seal them in. You should still better yet get some kind of bait OTC and inject it in the area and then seal it. Check all your weather stripping around your doors and windows, the idea is to find out how the pest is getting in. Reduce the supply of water on the exterior. At night time do an inspection on the exterior with a flash light. I would try this first, if you can't find any thing of the before mentioned then you will need to call a pest pro.
Gel bait -a good professional brand. Apply per instructions, not like a caulking gun-pea sized dots. if you start seeing results, reapply every 4 days or so, since it becomes less appealing to them when it dries out. Roaches test the consistency of their food before they will eat it-fresh gel bait is the right texture. Remember under appliances low to the ground and every opening in every wall-they use pipes and gas lines as freeways and get into outlets if plates aren't tight.
Well, cockroaches cannot fly... but they run very fast!
Yes one burn't down my house.
By getting food that they like and trap them and kill them.
I would look for other solutions to your problem. Bringing seagulls into you home would make a bigger mess than the cockroaches do. I would start by cleaning your house, then calling an exterminator.
