before you adjust there, you may want to make sure your brake shoes are adjusted up (assuming they are drum) properly, which would likely take care of the problem, because if there is excessive space between the shoes and surface of drum, you will be asking the cable to compensate for this problem, which would cause it to travel more than it should. Also, excessive space between shoes and drums will also cause your hydraulic system brake pedal to go down farther than it should, which will not be cured by adjusting at the pedal or handle
"on the emergency brake pedal on top theres a nut just tighten it till you feel adjustment" ?? The emergency/parking brake on the 2005 Nissan Frontier is not a foot pedal but a lever. I assume this is the same for the 2006 model. Is the adjustment similar or is there somewhere else the adjustment is made?

look under driver side by ddoor,unscrew lock nut and tighten other screw until brake is good,then tighten lock nut.
fix the problem. if it says brake, it might also be the brake fluid level or brake shoes or pads.

look under passenger side between front and rear tire u will see adjuster cable ,unscrew lock nut and tighten other nutuntil it feels ok then tighten lock nut
The cables have turnbuckles underneath. Turn to tighten & get the right amount of travel .Be prepared to lay on the ground 7 it's easier with a helper.
