yes, the 2.4 is an interference engine, meaning the valves and pistons occupy the same space at different times. if your t- belt breaks, they will occupy the same space at the same time....resulting in a bent intake valve(s).
To change the burnt lightbulb simply take out the battery, remove the bulb connector, remove the rubber moisture guard, and unhook the attached wire, replace the bulb and return the aforementioned contents to their proper place. Total time about 12 minutes. File et carpe diem.

The check engine light only comes on if there's a problem with suction (i.e. you filled the gas tank with the car running or left the gas cap open and drove. You can't reset it, you have to unhook the battery. If it comes on again, unhook the battery again. If it comes on a 3rd time, I'd see the dealer.
