In addition to the previous person not knowing how to spell correctly, his procedure for timing the 1998 Ford Escort is incorrect.
The 2.0 found in the escort and the escort ZX2 does not have a distributor. Instead it uses a coil pack. To time the 2.0 engine found in the escort it is a matter of lining up a timing mark on the cam pulley and setting the crank at top dead center (TDC). On the escort ZX2 the timing is set by locating TDC on the crank and aligning the slots on the end of the intake and exhaust cams.
