Add fluid into the dipstick pipe.
Use a long nose funnel that could plug into the dipstick pipe and then add Transmission Fluid small quantity at a time and check level. Repeat until the correct mark (there is cold transmission fluid mark and a hot fluid mark on the dipstick). Never overfill tranmission fluid!
On the top of the transmission there is a red cap. that cap comes off and you add fluid through there.
There is a drain plug on the bottom of the transmission. To fill it, there is a plug toward the top of the transmission case where U have to pump the new fluid in till it starts to drain out.. There is no fill or trans. dipstick in top.

On the 93 escort, brother to Tracer, there was only a breather valve at the top of the transmission and fluid needed to be added by removing an access bolt OR it had a small yellow dipstick at the top of the transmission.
