If the soldier is active duty currently, you can write to the world wide locator and request his duty station. This may or may not be effective; it will depend upon his current assignment and security levels.
You can also contact the American Red Cross and they may be able to get a message to him.
If the information you are trying to obtain is on someone who was previously enlisted, you can contact the Records Command in St. Louis, Missouri, and they will provide information to you if you are the service member, spouse of the service member and provide verification of this, child of a deceased service member, or the parent of a deceased service member.
