Misfires are the hardest ones to figure out, at least you know which one it is.
A problem I had with one was that it had coil on plug coils, and the boot extending down into the cylinder would vibrate loose allowing the spark to short on the engine before it got to the plug. The solution was to replace the boot, and I used a piece of the old boot to cover the gap where the two pieces come together. I also pulled the spring conductor apart so when it went back together there was good tension pushing in both directions.
The coils run more than one cylinder so it most likely isn't that, make sure your plug is the correct one and is gapped perfectly.
If it is the cylinder where the coil isn't on top redo the connections in the plug wire so excellent contact is being made between the inner element and the metal ends.

Prizm and Corolla were the same car, so yes.
Prizm's had a timing belt up until 1998 when they then switched to a timing chain.
