Take both the positive and the negative battery cables completely loose from the battery terminals.
The removal of the cable will work for pre '96 models but the later ones have to have the codes removed with a scanner. Auto Zone will do it for free.
You may need a new fuel cap. I have a Ranger and the thing has gone bad twice. I think they are only about $10-$15 at autozone.
Take it to Autozone (or your local parts store) and they will connect the scan tool to your truck, then you will press reset.
The OFF light also serves as a check light. When you first start the truck, the OFF light illuminates as it checks, then turns off when it senses the airbag is on.
the check oil light being on means that your low in oil. Your truck either has an oil leak or the valve cover gaskets are wore out or the covers need tightening. You should add some to it.
The check engine light on a 1999 Ford Ranger is between the full mark of the gas gauge and the left turn signal arrow
That depends entirely on the reason why the check engine light is on.
A check engine light means you have a possible problem with the emission system , you should get the Ranger scanned for trouble codes to diagnose and repair the problem . Once the problem has been repaired the check engine light can be reset.
i just changed my batterys out on my truck now my check engine light is on?

Take your 2002 Ford Ranger to the garage to get the engine checked.
