It is better to use a Garmin or GPS to construct a route planner because the Garmin or GPS automatically finds the best and quickest routes. Most Garmin's or GPS tools also keep into account traffic when figuring the best route. Traditional maps take more time to use and do not give turn by turn directions. Usually traditional maps require two people, one driving, and one using the map, to be most effective.
yes it will turn on. but you neet to put good pin ;]
Garmin lock is an anti-theft feature witch disables the unit from performing any functions until a specific 4-digit PIN is typed in or the unit is taken to a predetermined location.Simply enter a 4-digit PIN and select a Security Location. Write down your PIN and keep it in a safe place. Each time you turn on the GPS, enter your PIN to unlock the GPS. If you forget your PIN, you can go to your Security Location.Note: If you forget your PIN, and your Security Location, Garmin cannot unlock your GPS over the phone; you must send your GPS to Garmin to get it unlocked

Yes, you have to be able to connect the unit to a computer using a serial port (or serial port with usb adapter). You download the webupdater app for the unit from the Garmin site and run it. It will detect the unit's ID number, which you copy to clipboard and enter back on the Garmin site and pay moneys for a key that you in turn enter back into the webdater app, which then updates the unit. There are as of this writing three updates: Jeppesen, Obstacles, and Terrain. Most people will be most interested in the Jeppesen one.
The switch will be below and to the left of the steering column.
Do you mean the key in ignition chime?
in the wiring harness
On the steering column.
I love the Garmin. I think I will return my Tom Tom and get a Garmin. I used my Garmin in my home town. It told me to turn left on a 1 way street that went to the right, it tried to . The other thing about the Garmin I like is when you miss a turn it will automatically re-calculate the route, the Tom Tom requires to press some button and go through some prompts to re-calculate.
In the switch itself...
Put on your seat belt and buckle it up. The chime will then stop.
