Maintenance Required LightThis will depend on the car, but here is some general advice:
  • Hold odometer button, turn key on and wait ten seconds or until light flashes. Start vehicle, light should be off (imports).
  • Try removing and reinstalling one battery cable. Some vehicles will reset if you turn the ignation key on and off 3 times.

Or you could always try doing the maintenance, I bet that would turn it off.

Put the key in turn it on "BUT" don't start then pump the gas 3 times kinda fast. This works on GMC 2003 SUV's

You will need to take it into a mechanic. They will be able to check out your vehicle and then they can turn off the light.

It means that there is some sort of maintenance required - you'd need to pull codes to determine exactly what. Performing the required maintenance successfully should shut the light off.

Listed in your owner's manual. Next to the maintenance required light, you should see a small slot with a button in it. Stick your ignition key into the slot and hold it in for about 10 seconds. When you start your car, the light should be green, indicating that it has been reset. The maintenance light will turn orange automatically the next time that the mileage reaches one of Honda's recommended maintenance intervals.

Did you car just hit a mile marker 50,000 / 100,000 ? "Maintenance required" lights are, for the most part, to protect the manufactor when people do not maintain their car as they should. As long as the "check engine" light is not on,{ this light is important}. Remove the maintenance required lightbulb.

With the car key on ACC, put your odometer on the mileage setting (not 'trip') then turn the key off - then, while holding down the button that switches from odo and trip, turn the key back on to ACC - you will notice the maintenance light blink and then go out. The vehicle computer automatically resets the mileage interval until it goes on again.

The Maintenance Required light came on at 5,000 miles. Owners manual states it is an oil change needed reminder. For those of us who do it more frequently, here's what you do to reset the light. 1. Put key in ignition, turn to the "on" position, but do not start vehicle. 2. Push in trip odometer reset button until actual mileage of vehicle is showing. 3. Turn off ignition 4. With ignition off, push in trip odometer (actual mileage should be showing) 5. Turn key to "on" position while continuing to hold in trip reset. 6. You will see several dashes appear in the odometer. When they disappear, maintenance required light will disappear.

There is a small square button underneath the dash just to the right of the steering collumn. With the key in the ignition, in the off position, press the button for 7-10 seconds, then turn the key to ACC. This should reset the maintenance required light. It is a gimmick to get you to take your vehicle to the dealership so they make money off of you for resetting it.
