In the USA to legally turn it off you have to get permission from the NHTSA and a doctor that will specify medical necessity.
NOT TRUE ONE BIT! Use your ignition key and turn it off on the dash mounted switch as needed. NO PERMISSION IS NEEDED AND THEIR IS NO GOVT PENALTY!
