To turn off the Mac's speech open System Preferences and then select the Universal Access section. In the Seeing options make sure Voice Over is switched Off. There are also options in the Speech section of System Preferences which should be turned off,

∙ 13y agoGo into system references. If you don't have it in your dock, then use command-space and type "system preferences". click "speech". Click speech recognition, and then click "off" after speakable items. Also, go into "text to speech" and uncheck the two boxes starting with "announce" and the one saying "speek selected text...". Also try universal accesss preferences if this does not work.
