It is on the same dial as the dashboard lights. Turn it all the way up until you hear/feel it click.
On a 1998 Ford Ranger : Try rotating the gauge panel dimmer switch all the way up , I BELIEVE that turns on the interior courtesy lights and the cargo light * in your dash , just to the right of the headlight switch *
You can access the tail light assembly from the cargo compartment. Remove the tail light wiring connector. Push in and turn the lightbulb, at the same time, to remove it. Reverse the process to install your new tail lightbulb.
I changed the marker light today on my 98 Ford Ranger. There is two screws under the park light. Take both screws out and pull on the marker light and the park light at the same time. It will all come out at one time. That gives you axcess to your bulbs.
If the Third brake light is the only one working , it sounds like the multi function switch...aka turn signal switch...Just had the same problem with my 98 cargo van..

On my 94 ranger its on the break pedal (towards the top) its pretty easy to replace I have changed 3 times in 12 years

sounds like your gauge is broken or there is a short in wiring
The turn signal flasher relay on a 1992 Oldsmobile 98 Recency is in the fuse box under the dash. The fuse is light blue in color.
