==new answer== The brain, which is an organ of the body controls the body. You, as mind, control the brain, through your choices. Whatever you choose to think actually directs the body. All uses spirit which supplies the energy for all. You may begin to tap into the productive use of this spirit by "seeking first the kingdom of heaven" which is within. It resides in the innermost levels or superconscious mind. If your intention is correct, then all else will be added. It is not magic as supposed for the last two thousand years, but rather takes much effort. Having the correct intention will cause the effort to pay handsomely. It is a journey. You may begin from where you are. As you progress, you begin to remember or pull forward from subconscious mind much of what you learned in previous times. Without tapping the resources of the subconscious mind, we are stuck at the lowest level, the physical existence. The beginning of the journey is learning how to rise above the physical by learning how to control the physical body and the emotions and to put the conscious ego in it's place, behind you to push you forward . The pure ego is what rests in superconscious mind that through much effort and study can be brought into your consciousness. The conscious ego is our own personal devil or satan. The conscious ego uses many tricks to cause us to doubt. This must be controlled before one can unite mind, body and spirit successfully. Constantly ask yourself,"how can I use what I know to improve the situation"? Then listen within yourself for guidance. Be careful that you reason rather than rationalize. Uniting mind body and spirit will not be done intellectually. Begin by learning how to use undivided attention. When you use undivided attention, you have access to all of you. It is scattered attention that keeps us out of the loop spiritually. If you are one who attempts to do two or more things at once, then you are choosing to remain scattered. The conscious ego loves this.

Assuming that ghosts, in fact, are real, the answer would vary depending on religion. The most common explanation is that a person is made up of 2 or 3 parts. Usually 1) body and 2) spirit/soul. Although the body would have been killed the mind of the person (in the second part of the spirit/soul) lives on as a ghost. The other common explanation is similar in that a person is made of 3 parts, the parts being 1) body 2) mind and 3)spirit/soul with the body being the earthly body, the soul/spirit being the very essence or core of that person (that is, the part of them that makes them them) with the mind being the "link" between the soul and the body. In this case, the ghost would probably be the soul/spirit in addition to the mind or just the soul/spirit without a mind.
