Depress and hold the brake pedal. Slowly rock the steering wheel back and forth as far as it will go while gently trying to turn the key. If this does not work, something may be broken, or you may be using the wrong key or have it improperly positioned in the lock cylinder.
This happened to our 2001 Neon. After fighting with this for a whole day, someone told us to put the key in the ignition and take a hammer and hit the key right in the middle of it. Don't hit it hard enough to smash the black part of the key, but with enough force to reset the bars inside the ignition. It worked first time!! We were also told to apply a little force to the key (trying to turn it) at the same time as we hit the key. We didn't have to do this step as it worked the first time we hit it.
I have a 2004 neon that was doing the same thing. I followed your instructions, but I just hit the key with my knuckles and it worked. Thanks A Lot!
A retaining clip holds the ignition switch in place on the back of the ignition cylinder on your 2000 Dodge Ram.
That means you ignition is lock but its not a BIG problem. Just unlock it.
How do you replace the ignition switch on a 2000 ford expedition?
where is the ignition module located in my 2000 dodge 1500 ram van
Can anyone please tell me where the ignition switch is located on a 2000 oldsmobile silhouette?
Remove the ignition switch retaining ring. Pull the ignition switch out. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the ignition switch. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.
A 2000 Toyota Camry has an ignition switch fuse location in the main fuse panel. It helps protect the switch and the rest of the ignition system from surges.
I'm told this is a common problem that Chevrolet is aware of. Contact your local dealer. They should be able to replace the ignition switch and charge it back to Chevrolet as a warranty repair.
my brother has a 2001 stratus and had problems with the ingnition switch turning forward. we hired a lock smith to repair it at a fraction of the cost.
There is none as your Dodge is not equipped with an inertia switch.
No
