First, install Firefox. Better Gmail 2 only works with Fx, although some of the scripts have been written to work with internet Explorer (like Folders4Gmail - http://arend-von-reinersdorff.com/folders4gmail/ ).
Then go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6076 and install BG2.
Restart Firefox when prompted.
In Firefox, go to Menu/Tools/Add-ons and scroll to Better Gmail 2. Click Options and select the features you want to enable.
If you need help, click the Help tab, then the blue link for the particular script you're working with.

Better Gmail 2 does not require that you install Greasemonkey unless you are having trouble with a particular script. In that event, Gina Trapani, the person who built BG2, suggests desabling the script in BG2 and installing it separately with Greasemonkey. Attempting to run a Greasemonkey script and the same script in BG2 can cause conflicts. If you are using some of the Google Labs widgets in Gmail, there might also be a conflict. Disable either the BG2 script or the Labs widget and see if that solves the problem

It lets me hold down the right key and move my mouse left or right to move from the next email to the last email. This keeps me from having to scroll all the way to the button to change the email or go back to the inbox to change the email. This mainly speeds up the email browsing time, by a lot.
