insert the tang into the chuck
Use a brand-new bit for metal mounted on a hand drill (not electric). Slowly rotate the bit in the lead, which is a "soft" metal.
You would use a hand-held tool called a star drill, and hit it with a three pound hand-held sledge called a "Baby Jack". Each blow of the sledge you turn the star drill 1/4 turn.
If you have the drill in your hand with the chuck away from you, if the rotation goes clockwise it is going forward and if it is counterclockwise it is going in reverse. When you use the drill you usually go forward. To remove the drill bit look for the reverse lever and once it is going counterclockwise place your hand on the front part of the chuck and the drill bit should be released.
Use a standard HSS drill bit, but slow down rotation to about 500 rpm.
It's not necessarily the best. I would prefer to use a hand held electric drill for this.
You need a diamond tipped drill bit to drill glass or tile.
You can drill holes in aluminum with a drill as long as you have the proper drill bit. Use a regular drill bit and keep speed moderate.
You don't need a drill bit for anything on drywall.
Very slowly with a Carbide drill bit or Diamond core bit, both will work, but the diamond core bit works much better, make sure the bit has a constant flow of coolant or be submerged in the coolant. (go very slowly, do not apply much pressure, let the bit do the cutting) The best way is to use a drill press but a hand drill will work.
It depends on the material and the tool you use in drilling. If you use a bench drill to drill using diamond core bit, you must have a protected gears in machining and then stand straight beside the drilling machine. Use clamp to stable the material in the bench. If you use a hand drill, you must firmly hold and push the hand drill in toward the material downward. some of the tools of diamond core bit: http://www.gilatools.com/diamond-core-bits.html
Use a dimond tipped drill bit or carbide tipped. Place some masking tape on the area to be drilled as this reduces the slipping of the bit as it breaks the surface of the glass. Dont apply to much pressure but allow the drill bit to do the work or youll get tear out on breaking through. A good hand drill will do the job.
Your meaning is not clear. - If you are going to tap the threads in, use a 7/32 drill bit. If you want a hole that this bolt will slip through, use a 9/32 drill bit.
