Most HP scanners will be automatically recognised by Mac OS X. Connect the scanner to a USB socket, turn on the scanner and launch the Image Capture application in the Applications folder which should find the scanner. If it is not recognised HP supply a range of drivers and software (See links below).

It is probably in the program files folder for your scanner or it is in my documents folder if you have windows. If you have a mac I can't help I don't have much experience with a mac.
