if you are talking about rechargeable batterys in devices such as lights drills laptops then you should always charge them fully then use them until they are completely flat then fully recharge them again. it is bad for batterys to be left flat for long periods it is also bad for batterys if you half use them then charge them up

people often describe batterys as having memory if they are left flat for too long they loose some memory (ability to charge) if they are half use and then charged up they loose memory in the part of the battery that was not used

so basicaly use all the memory full charge full discharge full charge and so on
