The same way you should use any word in a sentence: in the proper context and meaning.

Biodegradable is a compound word. Bio as in Biology. And degrade. Able implies the object has the "ability to biodegrade" or the "ability to degrade biotically"

The prefix bio means "alive" or "organism" as in biology, the study of living things, biosphere, a system of living things, antibiotic, against living things and probiotic, which means for living things. Degrade means to breakdown or fall apart. So something that is biodegradable is something that can be "broken Down by living things" specifically, bacteria and microorganisms.

As far as using it in a sentence, it is simply an adjective or descriptive modifier. It describes a noun (person, place, or thing). So you could say Starbucks uses biodegradable coffee cups to minimize their impact on the environment. You could also say, in order to minimize their impact on the environment, Starbucks has made all of their coffee cups biodegradable.Either sentence is good and uses the word correctly. The difference is that in sentence one, the emphasis is placed on the word environment. In sentence two, the emphasis is on biodegradable. Say them both in your head to see what I mean. That's just a matter of your personal style of writing and speaking, and who your intended audience is.
