You didn't say which meaning of the word you want to use. Pace can mean a step, a length of measurement, a horse's gait, a way of walking, or a rate of speed. As a verb, it can mean to walk, to stride back and forth, to advance at a particular rate, to train a horse to pace, to measure by counting your steps, or to control your speed.
