Yes. Timelines are simply a method of visually listing and displaying information in chronological order, attaching dates to the events. They can be done horizontally across the bottom of a page, or taking up an entire page, or vertically. The benefits to showing a timeline vertically are that text can be more easily put in, with additional detail, and since text reads horizontally, more of it can be displayed vertically, thus maximizing the usage of space on the page. Horizontal timelines are typical, however they require more space for each event due to the text.
When left justification is turned on, text aligns to the left-hand margin of the page. (That's your left, not the page's left.) This is the most common justification, and you can see it functioning on all of the paragraphs here on Answers.com.
In print preview, there is an option to align your printed page. Just click on the box in front of the option you want. Click again to remove the check mark and go back to normal page alignment.
