to shut the fans on and off by yourself. remove the connector for the wires at the fan. hook a wire from the positive on fan motor to the inside toggle switch, do not hook to switch yet. run a wire from the positive on battery, hook to battery after hooking up switch. hook up the wires to the switch. then the battery. its up to you if you want to install a 15 amp fuse in line from battery to toggle switch.. you can also get the power from the fuse box instead of the battery. this should work for you. if not you may need to ground the other fan wire.

Where is Fan relay switch 99 vw passat?

It is mounted in the radiator, and is a thermostatic switch. It is located in the top left side near the fan itself. It is the only wired device in the radiator, so if you can see the wire, you got the switch.

Your Renault 5 engine fan isn't kicking in Any idea why?

Dead fan motor, bad connetion to fan motor, faulty swith on radiator. To check, pull connetion to fan apart, this is a two spade connection found close to fan. Run a live wire from battery to connection and another wire from connection to negative pole on battery. If fan starts to spin, the motor is fine. This test can also be done at the thermostat switch on the radiator. Fault must be at radiator switch. This switch is located half way down the right hand side of the radiator. Drain radiator, remove switch, replace switch, refill radiator, bleed cooling system. Problem solved.

Testing a radiator fan switch acura tl?

1. Locate and unplug the radiator fan switch A. This is in the area under the air passage the leads between the air filter and the upper intake manifold. It is located next to the right-most coolant passage (look for the two large radiator hoses, it's the lower hose.) The connector is round and gray and has one black wire and one green wire leading into it. 2. Turn the car to the on (II) position. 3. Use a multimeter to measure the voltage between the connector for the green wire and any unpainted bolt that is clearly attached to the body of the car (like the bolt head of the right 3 suspension tower connectors). Is there battery voltage? (approx 10-12 volts) Yes- go to step 5 No- repair open in the wire between the radiator fan switch A and the under-hood fuse/relay box (black box near passenger windshield). 5. Turn the ignition off and use the multimeter to check for continuity between the black wire of the radiator fan switch A and body ground. Is there continuity? Yes- replace radiator fan switch A No- check for an open in the wire between the radiator fan switch A and the body ground

How does the rad fan on a 1986 Honda Prelude come on?

There is a temperature switch on the passenger side bottom of the radiator that has a wire connector attached to it. The switch screws into the radiator and then the wires connect to that. That switch is what tells the relays to turn the cooling fan on. If your fans don't turn and the engine is running hot you can test the switch using the following steps. 1. turn the ignition to the on position but don't start the engine. 2. disconnect the wire connector to the switch on the bottom of the radiator. 3. using a small jumper wire, jump the two wires inside the connector. If the fans turn on then you will need to replace the temp switch. If the fans still don't turn on then you will need to check the fuses, relays, and the fans themselves.

Your 86 kawasaki 454 ltd is still over heating after you changed the radiator thermostat and fan?

does the fan even turn on? my bike was over heating because i broke the fan switch on the bottom of the radiator. i ground the wire too the frame and the fan turned on and cooled the radiator down. note the fan will still run if u turn your bike off . so what i did was loosen the switch which also drains the radiator. and soldered a wire on the center pin and reinstalled it . replaced the antifreeze and now the bike runs great.

Where is the radiator fan switch on a 98 Civic?

I have a 96 Honda Civic and the fan switch is located on the thermostat housing, which is connected to the back left part of the engine (if you are looking from the front of the car). To help you find it, there will be a hose connected to the therm housing that leads to the bottom of the radiator. The fan switch is gold colored and will have a wire connected to it. Disconnect the wire by pressing in the tab on the connector. To change the fan switch, I would recommend you use a deep socket (22mm, i think). hope that helps RZ
