It plugs into the taillight.
If you get a wiring package from Hoopy it will give you the diagram. I believe that they haven't changed the location since the earlier models and if so you hook into the wiring behind the passenger taillight.
It is the round connector, with a cover over it, about 6 inches left of and about at the same level as the hitch receiver.
Could be a burnt bulb. Could be a short in the wiring. Could be a bad switch.
Open the trunk and disconnect the wiring lead.Remove the 10MM bolts on the taillight. Now you should be able to remove the light.
All you need to do is pop the trunk open, and you'll see a screw near the reverse light. Un-screw that, and then gently pull the taillight out, and you will see th wiring harness, and from there, it's a snap!
If the blinkers work then your taillight wiring is bad.
This depends on what you plan on wiring. For an automobile, you would need stainless flex tubing, a 6 and 7 way converter box, a wiring dust cover, and some electrical wiring strippers.
Open the tailgate.Remove the taillight bolts, pull taillight toward you to release two clips.Unplug the taillight connecter.Connect the taillight connecter.Install the pushing away from you to fasten the two clips.Install the taillight boltsClose the tailgate.
You don't really need a radio wiring diagram just go to walmart and get a adapter converter kit for about 14.00 : - )
You have a short somewhere in the taillight or signal system. Track the wiring down under the vehicle where most shorts are caused. It also may be in the taillight casing as well.
Remove passenger seat, tool kit from the storage area under the tail section. There are 2 black knobs approx. 1" diameter that hold the taillight into the tailsection. Unscrew both knobs and remove them. wiggle the taillight and it will fall out and dangle by taillight wiring. this will expose the brake, tail and turn signal bulbs. replacing all the bulbs at once is smart so you wont have to worry about them in the future. try to use the BMW bulbs as they have the correct resistance. in a pinch, the auto ones will work but the flashers may operate slower/faster than before. do not put a larger bulb in the taillight than it calls for. if you do, the larger bulb will melt the taillight lens. install the taillight into the holes. don't pinch the wiring and be sure the 2 threaded studs go all the way in. tighten the 2 knobs tightly! use a flashlight if needed to install them.
