The letter must paint a picture of your grandson that the judge can readily perceive. Don't be general in simply praising him. You can't just say that he is a good boy. You need to provide examples. The letter should indicate that you are aware of the charges. You should know if it is a repeated offense since that also reveals character. Note if you have seen the person express remorse for what they did. You can include personal circumstances that may have contributed to the offense but do not blame anyone other than your grandson for what he did.
