In the movie, Mulan has been abandoned by her army friends once they discovered that she was a woman. However, she is the only one that witnesses the opposing forces survival. She goes to the city, where the emperor and his people are celebrating, and attempts to convince everyone they are in danger. They only believe her when the other soldiers show up. She, with the help of the army, save the emperor.
Mulan is from China, probably Beijing since that's where the emperor lives, and they go there in the movie.
