The ruins of Pompeii give us a look at the day to day life of an ancient Roman city. We can see the types of businesses, their entertainment facilities, the layout of the town and streets. We also see the structure and decoration of the larger houses. We see the graffiti on the walls ranging from advertising and election posters to simple "John loves Mary" type scrawl. In other words, we get a close look at the everyday life of the ancient Romans.
