What is the 1979 Susan B. Anthony proof dollar worth?

August 18, 2009The 1979 Susan B. Anthony proof dollar was struck in 2 varieties: The filled "S" and the clear "S". The filled "S" and clear "S" variety refers to the mint mark located just to the left of Susan B. Anthony. For the filled "S", the mint mark appears to be inflated to the point where it almost looks like the numeral "8" and is called ' type 1 '. The clear "S" is a perfect "S" and is called ' type 2 '. These proof coins were only minted at San Francisco which is shown as 1979-S in this list. Proof coins are not intended for circulation so values are shown only for the uncirculated grades in the following list:Uncirculated Deep Cameo Grades........1979-S type 1............1979-S type 2MS63........................................................$8...............................$72MS64........................................................$8...............................$77MS65........................................................$8...............................$82MS66........................................................$8...............................$90MS67........................................................$10.............................$95MS68........................................................$17.............................$100MS69........................................................$40.............................$150MS70........................................................$300...........................$1150

What is a Susan B. Anthony dollar coin?

All Susan B. Anthony dollars, including the 1999 reissue, were "clad" coins composed of a copper center layered with a copper/nickel alloy. This, by the way, is the same composition used for dimes, quarters, and half-dollars made for circulation since 1971; unlike those coins, which were also issued in a 91% silver alloy for collectors, the Susan B. Anthony dollar was never a true silver dollar.

What is the value of a liberty dollar coin printed in 1979?

Face value only - $1.To clear things up, the woman on the front of the coin is Susan B. Anthony, not Miss Liberty, so the coin is called an Anthony dollar not a Liberty dollar. Also coins are said to be struck or minted; "printing" refers to paper and ink, like $1 bills.

WHAT IS THE VALUE OF A 1978 D IKE DOLLAR?

To clear things up, that's DOLLAR, not "dollor" (just like it's spelled on the coin) and it's made of copper-nickel, not silver.1978 Eisenhower dollars in average condition are not scarce. They retail between face value and $1.25 depending on condition. Uncirculated ones sell for 2 to 30 dollars depending on how well struck they are.

How much is a liberty dollar coin worth now?

It's not clear what you're referring to. ALL U.S. coins have the word LIBERTY on them and many older ones carry a portrait of Miss Liberty so a "liberty dollar" isn't very specific. If you have a large silver coin with a recent date and says something like "1 oz 999 fine silver" on the back it's a bullion piece sold for its metal content. Its value changes with the price of silver; during 2008 it's bounced from $13 to $18. If it's a circulation coin like an Eisenhower, Susan B. Anthony, Sacagawea, or Presidential dollar, it's only worth a buck. If it's an older dollar (1935 or before), you'll need to post a new question with its date and its mint mark if you can locate it.

What is the worth of 1979 Susan B. Anthony Silver proof set?

August 15, 2009 There were no silver proof sets issued in 1979. The clad proof set sold for $9 in 1979. During the mintage year, the dies used to make proof coins were changed which resulted in 2 mint mark varieties: the "filled S" and the "clear S". The "filled S" mint mark appears inflated and difficult to read while the "clear S" is clear and easy to read. The "filled S" sets are valued at $10 today. The "clear S" sets are valued at $120 today.

Are silver dollars rare?

If you're using the term "silver dollar" to refer to $1 coins minted since 1971, they're not silver and only a few of them are rare. Regular circulating $1 coins minted since 1971 are generally only worth face value. A couple of varieties of 1979 and 1981 Susan B. Anthony dollars were struck; these can be distinguished by their mint marks (clear vs. blurred), with the clear ones being rarer. If you're referring to true silver dollars - the large (38.1 mm) coins made out of 90% silver - it's much harder to answer the question. True silver dollars were discontinued in 1935 and haven't been in circulation for decades, but if you look at the collector's market some dates are so commonly held that in average condition they're only worth their melt value, while others can sell for well into 7 figures.
