There is a sensor inside, much like the one in your car's gas tank.

When I wash and dry my clothes I have a brown tan colored 2 inch line stain on the front or back of my white clothes Where is it coming from?

There are three possibilties I know of: 1) poor water supply to house, need filtration system. 2) too much clothes in machine. 3) need new washer, if pieces are rusting the rust floats or an oil leak inside the washer will leave a line on the clothes at the top of the machine.

How do you know when to put in softener when your washing your clothes?

It will tell you on the back of the bottle, usually it is in the final rinse cycle. It is kinda tricky using fabric softener, if you pour it directly on your clothes or even don't mix it with the water good enough first it will leave greasy looking spots on your clothes. I stop my washer right before the final rinse, take my clothes out, let the fabric softener and water mix really good then add my clothes back in.

How do you make your clothes white?

We all know that after time washing white clothes makes them look dingy. Especially if you have young children that are good at making themselves messy. The perfect solution to it is to soak your whites overnight in a bucket of water with Cascade Dishwasher liquid. Just fill up a 5 gallon bucket of water and put about 1 cup of Cascade in it and mix it around. Soak all of your whites that are dingy in it. Be cautious not to put anything with color in with them because it will bleach it. The next day, put them in the washer and wash them as usual. You will see the dramatic difference.

Why does your washing machine fill but does not wash?

There could be a problem with the belt drive of your washer. Manually turn the machine to see if it spins easily. If it does not, you might need to check the belt. It could be too tight or too loose. But that depends on your washer. You can refer to http://www.washingmachineadvisor.com if you do not know how to repair your brand of washer.

I don't know if this is what your looking for but, you can attach your hose to your hot water connection to your washer. the water won't come out scorching hot.

Will a tank on top of my house give me enough water pressure?

This depends on how far down the water will travel, how much is in the tank, and on your intended use. Most household running water is put under somewhere between 40 and 70 PSI. It would be difficult for you to get this much pressure from gravity alone, but the water will flow as long as the source is above the drain point. You would be able to wash your hands and probably flush a toilet, as long as it has a tank. You probably will not have enough pressure to use a dish washer or clothes washer. If you really want to know how much pressure you will have, you can always do the math.

How do you fill the Windstar rear window washer?

For the 1999 and up Windstars/Freestar/Montery models, there is only one washer fluid reservoir that pumps to both the front and rear windows. As far as I know both the front and rear washers are supplied by the front (only) reservoir (located under the hood on the passenger side)

What causes brown spots on clothes after washing?

Some people have suggested that brown spots on whites could be caused by rust from the washer tub. I have experienced this problem and the washer has a plastic tube so that cannot be the problem at least in some case. I suspect that the spots are caused by rust, but from from the water supply and not always from the washer tub. If there has been work done on on any of the pipes in the system-that includes pipes outside the house, that can "kick-up" rust particle from inside the pipes that will travel down stream to the house/washing machine. There are usually small screens in the washer supply hoses(at the machine side) that can catch some larger particulate matter, but something the size of a grain or salt could get through and end up on the clothes. If this is indeed the cause, the solution would require some sort of filter(s) for the supply lines. If you know of any work being done on the water lines in or outside the home, you should let the water run from the taps until it is clear and better yet remove the hoses from the back of the washer and let those run to make sure any rust particles are flushed out before they get into the machine. The problem is that often the rust will get into the clothes before you know there is a problem. Possibly, cotton can decompose if moist for a long time, causing brown spots. In that case, the spots probably cannot be removed.
