I am assuming that you have served your sentence and are not further encumbered by parole appointments, probation or other legal requirements. Perhaps you can do what is necessary to be among the few who get their civil liberties fully restored. In that case, what you need is a passport, if you do not have a current passport, gather your birth certificate, photo (using your mug shot photo is probably not a good idea), and other documents, all told, costing just under $200 (you can find out more on obtaining a passport by searching online) - once you have everything in order, plan on four-to-six weeks for your passport to arrive. With passport in hand, book a flight, a one-way ticket will set you back about $200 from Fort Lauderdale, and enjoy the sunny beaches of the many Bahama Islands. There are many populated islands, but after being confined with so many people with so many restrictions for a year or so, I imagine you would prefer to book a flight to one of the lesser populated islands, such as Eleuthera, an island who's name is Greek for freedom. Bring cash (in moderation, and not in burlap bags), travelers checks, clothing - shorts and T-shirts sound logical, but it can get chilly after storms and during windy evenings. Bring personal hygiene items, a camera, and plenty of bug spray.
I believe so, as long as you are not on parole or probation and have "done your time". I would check with a travel agent!
Yes, he will need a passport to travel to the Bahamas. Anyone, including infants need passports to travel pretty much anywhere nowadays.
