There are many backup and fail-safe devices however the main is a ratchet style lock. The bar can only be moved one way (downwards) not back up. In the station the ratchet is released and the bar will raise.

Hey. If you can access the back of the roller there may be a bar that runs from one side of the roller to the other side of the roller, this bar locks the roller up in a collision or during severe braking, you can usually lift or rotate this bar and then pull the belt out from there to then untangle the belt.
I suppose you're talking about the loop-dee-loops? It's G-Force. The bar helps also. :)

The seat is moving downward and is no longer exerting the same upward force on your body. Gravity is pulling you down, but your body is falling at almost the same speed as you would if there was no roller coaster under you. You are nearly in "freefall" until the coaster turns back uphill. The momentum that you receive from the moving car is almost entirely horizontal, but some fast coasters do impart a slight upward velocity to you if they suddenly turn downward.
a good old fashioned crow bar
