If she was awarded access to a percentage of his pension, she should contact the company for whom he worked - and eventually she should be preprared to supply the pension administrator with a copy of the court order which states in what amount she has a claim on the ex's funds.
You need to check their original divorce decree. The first wife may indeed have a right to a portion of her ex-husband's pension.
In my case, the pension plan was started in January and my husband divorced his first wife in May of the same year. I happened upon this pension plan after my husband's death. I thought for sure the ex-wife would get it. However, there was wording that asked who he lived with for the 12 months preceding his death. In this case, it was me, the widowed wife.
