An amoeba* moves by using pseudo-pods, or false feet. Pseudo-pods extend and contract by a reversible group of actin which are separated into micro-filaments. Micro-filaments near the ends of amoebas interact with myosin which causes a contraction. Then, the pseudo-pods extend until the actin regroups itself to start another contraction.

It uses pseudopodia, which are temporary extensions of the membrane. It extends its body toward a stimulus and then pushes its cytoplasm to that area. Actin and myosin filaments work together in the cytoskeleton to allow this locomotion.
