Biomass is burnt to make electricity in the same way as coal and oil. It does not release additional carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, but its black and brown carbon (ash) pollution contributes to global warming when it lands on snow and ice, and when the particles are absorbed by water vapour droplets in clouds.

There are a few methods. Biomass can simply be burned and the heat generated by the burning of biomass boils water, and then steam produced off that will turn a turbine to produce energy.

It is possible to convert the biomass to other forms, such as ethanol, syn-gas or bio-oil but these are large topics that can be researched if you are interested. These fuels can be burned and used in their own way to produce electricity in plants.

Biomass forms Biogases when it decomposes. Methane is the major one here. The gas can then be burned to heat water which evaporates and drives a turbine causing electricity generation

Biomass is any vegetation that will burn to produce electricity in a power station.

What is biomass fule?

Biomass is commonly plant matter grown to generate electricity or produce heat. Biomass fuel is the fuel which is naturally generated and used by us in our life. Example : Electricity, Petrol.

What equipment or machines are needed to produce biomass electricity?

solar panels

Do you have to burn biomass to produce electricity?

Yes. Biomass is usually vegetation or trash. It is burnt in an ordinary power station to generate electricity, but without contributing to global warming.

How do you use biomass in a sentence?

We can burn biomass in special plants to produce steam for making electricity, or we can burn it to provide heat for industries and homes.

Is biomass electricity?

No, biomass is vegetation and garbage which can be burnt to generate electricity.

How does a biomass generator work?

Most biomass generators work by heating water to generate steam which then turns turbines for electricity generation. Different generators use different types of biomass fuel.

How do biomass stations work?

If you mean for producing electricity, not very different from burning fossil fuels. In the US about 1700MW can be produced from biomass at present.

How is biomass energy obtained?

Biomass energy is generated from dead plants and animalsBiomass energy is generated by burning it in a boiler to produce a high-pressure steam and from there it will drive a turbine to generate the energy.

How is biomass used in real life?

junk yards can sometimes burn their rubbish or they have huge biomass plants to create electricity -Biomass electricity

What are the energy transfer for biomass?

Burning stuff like wood, waste and other plant matter releases stored chemical energy in the form of heat, which can be used to turn shafts to produce electricity. Let's see this simple illustration of how biomass is used to generate electricity

Plant that burns waste to produce electricity?

Biomass power stations. (Regular power stations that burn coal can easily be converted to burning biomass (vegetation), reducing pollution, just by changing the fuel.)
