The sea being liquid is less dense than land (solid). The sea therefore heats to a greater depth, but the depth means that in summer the sea takes longer to heat up than the land. Once it is warmed up however, it retains the heat for a lot longer, and takes longer to cool down in Winter. This means the further away from the sea you are, the warmer the summers you'll have, but the cooler the winters you'll have. And by the same token as above the nearer the sea the less likely you are to be freezing in winter & baking in summer, the climate is more Equable (or moderate). The winds from the sea are what actually makes the climate this way as the winds take their temperature from the sea. eg. Cold sea = cold winds and hot sea = hot winds.

The sea can also affect rainfall in an area as the winds move in and become drier as they go. The further inland the place is the drier the climate because the wind brings moisture but the moisture dries as the winds travel further inland. I learned the answer to this in science this year, so don't worry, it is accurate:

The higher above sea level/elevation you are, the colder the temperature becomes. The reason for this is because there are air molecules in the air bump closer together when you are lower above sea level- that creates warm weather. The higher above sea level you go, (for example, the tops of mountains,) the more separated and spaced out the molecules become, which causes cold weather. This is the ACCURATE answer to how elevation affects temperature.

When the global temperature rises, the ice caps melt. When land ice and glaciers melt this ends up increasing the volume of the oceans and rising the sea level.

so, higher temp = higher sea level

What could happen if you let globle warmig happen?

Global warming simply means an increase in atmospheric temperature on a global level. One significant effect effect of this temperature rise is the melting of our polar ice caps, which will eventually result in a rise in sea level.

Do sound waves increase or decrease above sea level?

The sound has really nothing to do with sea level, but changes with temperature alone. The speed of sound goes up when the temperature goes up and goes down when the temperature goes down. The frequency of sound columns, like of woodwinds or of church organs changes with temperature. If the temperature increases, the frequency increases also.

Is there a map showing the projected impact of global warming on the southern US coastline?

There is a map where you can see the effect of sea level rise at the link below. At the top left you can set the sea level rise to 0 meters to see the present coastline. Changing the sea level rise to 5 meters or 50 meters will make changes on the map.

How does global warming affect cyclones?

Due to global warming the rainfall pattern changes, sea level rises as the glacier melts. This whole thing results in more cyclones and hurricanes.
