Basic Baked Egg Custard from my grandma's handwritten cookbook, c1900:
3 eggs
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup sugar
2 cups scalded milk*
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine slightly beaten eggs with sugar and salt. Slowly stir in milk and vanilla. Pour into 6 custard cups and set them in a pan of hot water. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until knife comes out clean.
* Note: Scalding the milk was done traditionally to kill enzymes that spoiled milk, it's not necessary for that purpose since we now use pasteurized milk. Just warm the milk. I left that in because that's how she wrote it.
For making birds eye or home made custard to set in the fridge takes about 4-6 hours. This is beacause you need to make it fluffy and cold enough. By doing this it will set and taste lovely! Hope this helps and follow me on twitter for more advise at @PoppyLees Thank you
no as custard still stays runny ,but if you leave it for a few minutes it will start to develop skin
you put it in the fridge for 1-2 hours

No. Egg custard, or custard is made with egg yolks, milk and sugar. It is a pudding, in german or american cuisines. It can be baked into pies, added to cakes or pastries or baked and served as is.
Egg Custard
No it cannot. Jell-O Americana Custard is a set type of custard (as in flan or creme caramel). Bird's custard can be made runnier, as a sauce, or thicker, as a pudding. It will not set, however. I highly recommend it (especially as a hot sauce over crisps or cobblers), but they are different products.
Not typically, custard (I'm assuming you mean pie) is made with milk, egg and sugar, and pie crust is often made with flour, fat and water. No yeast is needed to make this.
blomonge is, I believe, some kind of white custard made with milk and sweetners and set with gelatin or similar setting mixture. this custard was often referred to as blancmange which might be a french name for white custard
