Change it. Don't be a dumb.
your distributer could have a crack in it so its letting moisture in id recomend replacing your rotor button and distributer and see if that does the trick and that a relitiv cheep fix
The quick answer is...set motor on top dead center, put the distributer in place making sure the cross ridge of the shaft fits in the slot in the camshaft. That slot is slightly off center and the distributer will only go in one way. When you put it in place, if it doesn't go right in place without forcing it, turn the rotor 1/2 turn. Once in place, make sure the rotor points at #1 spark plug wire. Mr Geo Metro leehduncan@verizon.net
I will assume you have a 3.0ltr v6, since you stated distributer. The problem is coil wire or distributer cap or rotor button. Could be all three, assuming the coil is firing. Change your distributer, and your distributer cap. Also change the rotor button in the distributer. Try turning the key almost like you are going to crank it but don't and listen to see if the fuel pump engages. You should be able to hear it turn on. If you can't hear it, most likely it is shot. Have you noticed the car stalling out at all at unusual times? Trouble cranking when you get in it?
set cylender one at top dead senter then point thr rotor at cylender one that will set the distributer then turn the cap to finish the timing that always works for me
Turn the distributer.
rotor button is the little gadget inside distributer cap attached to the distributor shaft this spins when engine is turning over, distributing the spark to each plug at the right time
Bad coil, Bad damaged or unplugged crank/cam position sensor, bad rotor, distributer cap, faulty distributer, plugs wires
unbolt the distributer cap and lift up. The rotor is under the cap on a pivot. It should just pull off. Keep track of the position of the rotor and distributor cap though. Just in case.
Check and clean spark plugs distributer and rotor change air fillter and oil change wont hert
Because when you turn the igniton switch to run it heats up the coil which then in turn goes to the distributer and from the distributer to the spark plugs.
