More than any other creature on earth, we humans affect the environment the most. Pollution in water caused mostly by pesticides and fertilizers harm marine wildlife. Gas from factories and exhaust from cars cause acid rain, which burns and destroys forests making habitats dissolve. Constant cutting of trees, and removal of plants causes the environment for the animals to rapidly decrease. To help stop these problems, you can use less none-recyclable things, reuse plastic bags, watch how much water you use, and save energy. Don't pollute.

Nutrition is the fundamental to growth and development in farm animals. Improper nutrition has been shown to stunt growth in livestock and produce animals that are considered "poor doers" or those that are sickly, unthrifty, small, and lower producers later in life. It has also shown to produce animals that develop some form of nutrient or mineral defieiciency or toxicity which can lead to undesirable or disastrous consequences for the producer.

Nutrition resulting in an unbalanced diet or ration may cause growing animals to become either thinner than normal or fatter than normal. Too much fat in an animal--often a result of feeding too much feed rich in energy or carbohydrates--can limit growth and, if the animal is to be kept for breeding purposes, improper development of reproductive organs and mammary development. For example, in heifers (immature female cattle), too much fat can lead to birthing problems when they are ready to calve, a fertility issues, and a lowered milking ability due to the fat deposits in and around the reproductive organs and in the mammary tissue of the udder, respectively. In bulls, too much fat can inhibit sperm production and reduce fertility and sperm count when they are tested for breeding soundness.

With animals fed for slaughter later in life, improper nutrition can, as mentioned, reduce the quality and quantity of flesh they produce up until slaughter. A diet too high in energy for some animals can lead to meat that is too fatty and full of "waste", or excessive fat that needs to be trimmed if the meat is to be sold in grocery stores. The intermuscular fat can also reduce meat quality that is considered undesirable to the standards of the consumer. On the other side, too little nutrition can reduce the amount of meat that is on an animal at slaughter and make the meat more tough and too lean for some consumer's liking. The amount of meat from such an animal would also be considered insufficient.
