It is interesting that when Propertius writes about the Aeneid (still being composed - probably - while Propertius was finishing Elegies 2.34) he says: nescio quid maius nascitur Iliade (for all I know, we may be getting something grander than the Iliad). But the Iliad is not a poem about Greece; it is a poem about Achilles.
