Yeasts are used to change sugar into alcohol and carbon dioxide and

this process is known as Fermentation. Wine and beer are also made this way. Beer is produced by fermenting germinating cereals , while wine is produced by fermenting crushed grapes. Yeasts are also used to ferment bread and cause it to rise (the alcohol produced by the fermentation is evaporated in the baking). Yeasts are present in the air, especially near a place where bread has been made, so fruit juices left in the open in your kitchen will naturally ferment into wine.

Food fermentation occurs in the presence enzymes produced by microorganisms like beneficial bacteria, yeast etc in anaerobic conditions. In the process of fermentation carbon di oxide and other gases and byrpoducts are produced which adds to the pH, taste and flavour.

Bacteria and fungi are used to change sugar into alcohol or acid and this process is known as Fermentation. Lactic and Citric acid are waste products of certain bacteria and fungi respectively. The alcohols of wine and beer are also made this way. Beer is produced by fermenting germinating cereals , while wine is produced by fermenting crushed grapes.

The overall process of fermentation is to convert glucose sugar (C6H12O6) to alcohol (CH3CH2OH) and carbon dioxide gas (CO2). The reactions within the yeast to make this happen are very complex but the overall process is as follows:

C6H12O6 ====> 2(CH3CH2OH) + 2(CO2) + Energy (which is stored in ATP)

Sugar ====> Alcohol + Carbon dioxide gas + Energy

(Glucose) (Ethyl alcohol)

Depending on the alcohol you are trying to make, fermentation is when the food is mixed with for instance barley and hops. the fermentation would bring beer.It is very safe to assume that you are drinking "rotten" barley or hops.

Yeasts can produce ATP by either fermentation or chemiosmosis thus they are?

Fermentation the process of producing ATPs without the presence of oxygen.2 types of fermentation: Alcohol fermentation and lactic acid fermentation.Alcohol fermentation: Some types of yeast, for instance, will produce lots of ATP and carbon dioxide if they have plenty of oxygen, but if they lack oxygen, then they produce alcohol instead of lactic acid.

Problems with oxygen getting into fermentation?

Fermentation is an anaerobic response for yeast. Yeast will respire aerobically in the presence of oxygen and will not produce alcohol.
