Solomon says his writings are: "...to know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding..." (Prov.1:2).
Under the category of "wisdom and understanding"... he writes: "The FEAR OF THE LORD is the beginning [foundation] of WISDOM: and the knowledge of the holy [familiarity with God's Word] is UNDERSTANDING." (Prov.9:10)
Therefore... Solomon's writings and wisdom are only helpful to those who believe in and fear [revere and respect] God. They are foolishness to all others... and of no help at all.
The helpfulness of his words of wisdom and understanding are "spiritual"... which means they are "timeless' and not subject to eras of man's changing technological development. They speak to the "inner man"... his "spirit"... which in turn yields inner peace, which the outside world cannot give.
Life is a struggle regardless of the generation. And men have sought peace throughout all of them to no avail. In this venue [and others] are Solomon's words helpful even today for those who fear God; providing the spiritual inner peace of God's wisdom and understanding from the "knowledge of the Holy One, the spiritual well of God's Truth, The Bible.
"Peace I leave with you, MY PEACE I give unto you: NOT AS THE WORLD GIVETH, give I unto you. LET NOT YOUR HEART BE TROUBLED, NEITHER LET IT BE AFRAID." (John 14:27)
An untroubled and fearless heart.
That's a timeless, priceless treasure that all the generations of men have wanted... but, with which only a rare few from each have been blessed.
It's still available today to any who would fear God... and seek out the knowledge, wisdom and understanding of His Word. The rest of the world remains spiritually "troubled" and "afraid"... and helpless in its ignorance of Solomon's spiritual wisdom.
