Imagine your whole body full of little soldiers making up armies. white blood cells are the soldiers, platelets are the doctors and nurses that heal you when your body is damages and red blood cells carry oxygen to the body. the white blood cells are made in bone marrow. imagine the bone marrow as a training centre for soldiers. leukaemia is when the body gets a simple illness and the bone marrow makes lots and lots of white blood cells and in the rush, the soldiers are let out too early and cannot fight very well. it is like sending five year old children out in World War 2. your body is now stuck with bad white blood cells and your body produces more but again they are bad. this decreases your immune system as the soldiers cant fight. chemotherapy wipes out all the bad blood cells in your body and you need a bone marrow transplant to make the the bone marrow produce good white blood cells.
