This boom, called thunder, is the result of lightning instantly superheating the air to tens of thousands of degrees. The air expands rapidly as a result, generating a shockwave.
I heard that lightning is a common cause of forest fires.
i have heard to never take a shower during a thunderstorm, because it could run through the metal water pipes and strike you. Just as un safe as swimming in a pool.
Yes - it is rare.Ways you can die from a thunderstorm:Hit by lightning - which is rareCaught in a flash flood - rare (for one thing, you have to be in an area prone to flash floods AND be there at just the right time during a thunderstorm)Hypothermia from being outside and getting drenched during the thunderstorm and not getting dried out for many hours. This is the most likely way to die related to a thunderstorm - and how many people have you heard of dying this way? Obviously this is really uncommon and yet it is more common than the other ways - which tells you just how rare it is to die from a thunderstorm.
thunder
What a great question! There are many parts of a thunderstorm that cause problems. Rain falls fast and quick, so often flash flooding. Lightning is very beautiful, but its so destructive. It causes forest fires ad burns homes. Hail causes roughly a billion dollars in damage to crops each year. I cant remember where I heard that from though you want to check it up.
Lightning from a distant thunderstorm too far away for thunder to be heard
A thunder storm is one in which a large amount of thunder is heard. Thunder is caused by lightning; it would be more correct to say that a thunderstorm only occurs with lightning strikes.

Thunder is the sound heard after lightning.
This depends on the positive and negative forces in the cloudsBy definition, it isn't a thunderstorm without those elements. Only one need be OBSERVED, because if one of the two were seen/heard, the other was there somewhere.
Thunder and lightning, sky darkens, winds increase. A better long distance warning is crackily static on an AM radio. You can only hear thunder about 8 miles away, but the static can be heard about 40 miles away from the storm.
i have heard that earth, satern, jupiter, neptune, and venus all have lightning!!!!

Thunder is always heard after lightning flashes. The sounds from thunder can be heard from miles away, but you can see lightning and NOT hear thunder. Never the other way around.
