Without proper nourishment the body rebels. Pitting edema is one indication of poor nourishment. The body retains fluid in the feet, ankles, hands, even around the lungs. As in an anorexic or bulimic, after all the fat is consumed by the body, vital organs and muscles are sought as a source of food. Hence heart attack or at least heart problems appear for those with an eating disorder. Poor nourishment, unless you live in poverty or a third world country, should not be an issue.
