Pluralist theory emphasizes the presence of multiple groups in society with competing interests. In a democracy, pluralist theory suggests that these groups can influence policy-making by competing for attention and resources through various channels, such as elections, lobbying, and advocacy. By allowing multiple groups to participate and voice their concerns, pluralist theory helps to ensure that democracy remains inclusive and responsive to diverse interests.

How does American democracy differ from the theory of democratic government?

American democracy differs from the theory of democratic government in terms of its representative nature. In American democracy, citizens elect representatives to make decisions on their behalf, whereas in the theory of democratic government, direct participation of citizens in decision-making is emphasized. Additionally, American democracy includes a system of checks and balances, separation of powers, and limited government, which may not always align perfectly with theoretical democratic ideals.

Is representative democracy a limited or unlimited government?

Representative democracy is a limited government because power is distributed among elected officials who operate within the constraints of a constitution or legal framework. These officials are accountable to the people through elections and are subject to checks and balances, preventing the concentration of power in any one individual or group.
