Because rejection is an emotional expierence and your sad emotions take over every other emotion that you have and it shuts you down. It makes you feel like you just got stabbed with a knife in the heart. I have had a good amount of rejections and each one hurts more then the one before.

∙ 13y agoRejection can have many effects on people. Some people may fall into depression while others may bounce right back up. With girls, many ask themselves "Did he reject because I'm not pretty enough?" or "Was it because I stuttered" or "Is it because my appearance?" With boys, they may ask themselves "Did she reject because I'm not athletic" or "Should I have asked differently" or "Did they so no because I'm not smart enough."
