Everything in our society, as well as every other society is affected by sin. Every business is run by money, and the root of all evil (in society and everywhere else) is the love of money. In The Bible, money is called "filthy lucre", which gives even more reason why people are corrupted by their view of money, though no object innately evil. When the Bible was still taught in schools, sin was considerably more contained than now, as now we have homosexuals not only teaching kids, but teaching them to live the way those in Sodom did, as they are taught sodomy, which is the Biblical term for homosexuality. Those Sodomites were all killed by fire and brimstone, yet Americans continue to tolerate this lifestyle and force other to accept it as a religion. In short, sin is the driving factor of Hollywood, and of the known word, as we, as Americans, have crossed into a post-Christian (pro sin instead of anti-sin) era. Sin has become the default motive for all mankind to do everything that we do, as it is now the backbone of society.

ANSWER: It is how sin affects the individual that ultimately affects society. How society is affected by anything however, is always dependent on how it affects the individuals. How does sin affect you? It affects you most obviously by the sins that others have committed that have trespassed against you. Those crimes committed by others that harmed you are the sins of others and the affected you. The least obvious effect of sin are the sins you commit yourself. If you have sinned you will feel guilt. Even if you haven't sinned but believed you have, you will fee guilt. How you deal with that guilt determines whether you cleanse the sin or sin again. To relieve yourself of guilt you must be able and willing to accept responsibility for your actions. If you do not accept this responsibility you will find a rational way to justify the sin. Your justification being a lie told to yourself in order to find absolution, becomes another sin and the cycle continues until you finally accept the responsibility for your actions. The sooner you do this the less responsibility there is to take, the longer you wait the less likely it becomes that you will ever accept responsibility and so goes a life of sin. What's the use? You've all ready sinned. We all fall short of the glory of God. What can we say? We're all sinners! The devil made us do it! Before you know it, you have a society filled with weak willed individuals incapable of accepting responsibility for what they do and...uh-oh...

Sin in ourselves often causes us to notice it more in others, probably because of guilt. Behind many sins is pride which is effectively the same as saying 'I am god' and no-one can tell me what to do. This is the worst kind because then no-one can tell such a person anything, and they accuse others of the very things they do themselves. They also believe that they can reform themselves because sin, to them, is just a character fault and they can reform that by their own efforts. Thus there is absolutely no need of the savior Jesus Christ.

Over time remaining in sin produces a hardness and a stubbornness which is almost impossible to correct. It produces a narrow closed-mindedness to all alternatives, as well as ways of vigorous self justification, which excuse whatever fault needs correcting.

Sin, it is claimed, is a non-existent concept in absolute terms and can therefore be defined as each individual sees fit and has effectively no objective existence. If this really were so then there would be no rapes, murders, vioence, hatred, selfishness, wars etc and all would be peace and love. It is certainly possible that some may call these sins by another name (such as character faults) but this is certainly included in the Biblical concept of sin.

Such sin may be blamed on all sorts of things, even religion itself, but the Bible ultimately sheets the blame back to the individual who is in a state of rebellion against God his maker and who then dares to exalt himself against his maker. This is the ultimate sin, daring to exalt oneself against ones maker, daring to exalt myself and mans limited knowledge against the perfect knowledge of God. The Bible also teaches that such will get worse and worse 'deceivers and being deceived' probably because, since they have cut themselves loose from any restraints God would put on them they are free to do more and more and go further and further away from the peace God would give them.

AnswerIf you do not know that the act is a Sin, then it will not affect you.

If someone else' tells you that the act is a Sin, but you do not accept it to be a Sin, then it will not affect you.

If someone else' tells you that the act is a Sin, and you accept it to be so, but if there's no punishment attached to this Sin, then again it will not affect you.

Only if you know it to be a Sin and Aware of the consequences (punishment) of that act and you still did it, then it will affect you. How? It depends on how you were conditioned. If the punishment is real, like in the law of man, or punishment from a concept of a Supreme Being.

Answer:

Sin eats away at a being, it rots you from the inside. it may not be visible on the outside but, deep inside a person it will slowly destroy you unless you ask for forgiveness from Jesus.

Because of a big downturn in awareness of God in the last one hundred years, there has been a vast upsurge in all kinds of societal sicknesses. Not only has licentiousness become glorified, but violent crimes have increased shockingly. Many are complacent, only because this didn't happen all at once or because they're unaware of an alternative. But several decades ago, teachers were respected, officers were obeyed politely, and stores needed no advanced security systems or guns at hand. Schools needed no metal detectors. There were robberies and attacks then also, but only a fraction of what we see now.

Those who taught our children not to believe in God justified themselves disingenuously, but the results are there in front of us.

As we see in the Bible, sin was once thought to be the cause of sickness and the wrath of God upon a nation. We no longer believe this, but find new reasons to focus on sin, almost to glorify it at proving the need for more religion.

Another name for sin is crime. Crime levels go up and down over time, but what is interesting is that there is sometimes a negative correlation between religiosity and crime. The United States is much more religious than most other Western nations, but also has a higher level of serious crime. Moreover, nearly all prison inmates identify as religious. Whatever the solution, it does not seem to involve more religion.

What is Social and personal sin?

Presumably, a social sin would affect society in general, and a personal sin would only affect yourself.Personally, the only "sin" I think is worth worrying about is anything that can harm yourself or others. Note that there are several things that have traditionally been called "sin", which don't really harm anybody. Therefore, personally I try to avoid the use of this term, which is sort of fuzzy.
