The Irish, up until recently have always been excellent Catholics, and the Church has done much to save the souls of generations of the Irish. At one time Ireland send more Catholic missionaries out of their country to spread Christianity all over Europe, Africa, Americas, etc. than any single other country, a fact that is amazing giving the size of the country.
