The insect in question (Chrysiridia rhipheus) relies upon shrubs and trees in the Omphalea genus that is native to tropical Africa, America, Asia, Australia and the West Indies. The genus takes its place among Euphhorbiaceae family members native to American and Indo-Malayan regions and naturalized in Europe.
